Nina Munteanu's short story, "A Butterfly in Peking", originally published in Bram Stoker Award-winning Chiaroscuro, was recently translated and reprinted in Poland's Nowa Fantastyka.

Maggie L. Wood sells sequel to The Princess Pawn
 

Maggie L. Wood’s new YA fantasy The Princess Mage, a sequel to her Red Maple-nominated The Princess Pawn, has just been sold to Sumach Press and is tentatively set for a spring 2006 release date.

During this past year, Maggie did many school presentations for the Red Maple program. She also went to Frankfurt, Germany to do workshops for the Young Authors’ Conference held for American children on the Rhein Main Air Force Base. And this summer she will be a presenter and the author liaison for the first London Book Camp to be held in London, Ontario from August 15-19.

The Princess Pawn was also recently short-listed for B.C.’s new teen choice Stellar Award.

Simon Rose book launch in Calgary August 27 & 28
 

The official Calgary book launch for Simon Rose's third novel for young readers, The Clone Conspiracy, will be held Saturday, August 27, and Sunday, August 28, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, at Starbucks Coffee at Glenmore Landing, 131D, 1600 90 Avenue SW (the corner of 14 Street and 90 Avenue SW). Simon describes The Clone Conspiracy as "a fast-paced, suspenseful spellbinding thriller for all children ages seven to 12."
