Cory Doctorow novelette nominated for Hugo Award

The Hugo Awards, the premiere award in the science fiction field, are nominated for and voted on by members of the World Science Fiction Convention (WorldCon). This year's Hugo Awards will be presented at L.A.con IV, the 64th World Science Fiction Convention, to be held August 23 to 27 in Anaheim, California.

Several sales for Jean-Louis Trudel
He's also sold to Solaris for future publication a short story called "Les noms de la proie" ("The Names of the Quarry"). His story "Filhos do Sol" ("Children of the Sun") was included in the Brazilian anthology Histórias de Ficção Científica, edited by Roberto de Sousa Causo and published by Ática.
Writing with Yves Meynard as Laurent McAllister, he also helped to author the YA novel Le maître des bourrasques (The Master of Squalls) from Médiaspaul in Montréal, as well as a short story, "Un homme seul, avant la Conjonction" ("A Man Alone, Before the Conjonction") in the annual science fiction compendium from Paris-based publisher Bragelonne, Science-Fiction 2006. On the non-commercial side, he also published a non-SF short story, "Legacies," in the anthology Tales of the Shadowmen. Volume 2: Gentlemen of the Night_ from Encino-based Black Coat Press.
Dernièrement, Jean-Louis Trudel a vendu à Solaris la version française d'un essai d'abord paru dans le numéro de novembre 2005 du New York Review of Science Fiction, « Looking for Little Green Men », qui s'intitulera « Aux origines des petits hommes verts » en français.
Il avait aussi vendu précédemment à Solaris une nouvelle de science-fiction intitulée « Les noms de la proie ». Sa nouvelle « Filhos do Sol », version portugaise de la nouvelle « Enfants du soleil », est enfin parue dans l'anthologie brésilienne Histórias de Ficção Científica réunie par Roberto de Sousa Causo et publiée par Ática.
Sous le nom de Laurent McAllister, il a signé en collaboration avec Yves Meynard le roman pour jeunes Le maître des bourrasques publié par la maison d'édition montréalaise Médiaspaul. Laurent McAllister a aussi fait paraître une nouvelle intitulée « Un homme seul, avant la Conjonction » dans l'anthologie annuelle de Bragelonne, Science-Fiction 2006. On notera aussi une publication non-rémunérée de Jean-Louis rudel, sa nouvelle « Legacies » (« Patrimoines ») dans l'anthologie Tales of the Shadowmen. The $750 award is intended for writers of fifty years or older, to assist such writers who are just starting to work at a professional level. The award was chosen by a jury consisting of M.J. Goodner, Sandra Kasturi, and Sheree Thomas of the SLF on the basis of interest and merit.
