Matt Hughes's Majestrum reviewed in the Seattle Times

Matt Hughes's novel Majestrum has received a nice review in the Seattle Times. Matt says he believes this is the first time he's ever been reviewed in a mainline (i.e., non-genre related) U.S. publication.

Karl Schroeder on CBC's The Hour

CBC Television's The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulous, which airs at 11 p.m. local time coast-to-coast in Canada, is doing a three-part series on the future to kick off the new year, asking what a baby born on New Year's Day, 2007, can expect the world to be like when they're 18, 30, 50, and 65. The three segments will air Tuesday, January 2; Wednesday, January 3; and Thursday, January 4.

Each segment features a different theme, and a different person making the predictions. One segment is on the future of transportation, and SF writer Robert J. Sawyer is interviewed; another is on the future of warfare and SF writer Karl Schroeder is interviewed; the third is on the future of humanity, and George Dvorsky of the Toronto Transhumanist Association is interviewed. But which segment will air on which night hasn't yet been determined.

Leslie Carmichael story recommended on Spec the Halls

Phyllis Gotlieb Guest of Honour at Ad Astra

Phyllis Gotlieb will be Guest of Honour at the Toronto science fiction convention Ad Astra in March. Her new book Birthstones, coming out from Robert J. Sawyer Books in March, will receive its official launch at the con.

**New M.D. Benoit novel Synergy due out in March**

A new novel by M.D. Benoit, Synergy, will be coming out in March 2007 from Zumaya Otherworlds.

As well, Dom's Meter Made, the second in the Jack Meter Case Files, has received another great review, from reader and author Cheryl Swanson.

Ahmed A. Khan Spec The Halls contest story now online

Ahmed A. Khan's sotry "The Predator, The Prey and The Catalyst", published in the anthology Catty New Year has been entered in the Spec The Halls holiday story contest and is now available online.

Ahmed's story "Elevator Episodes" has been published in the Running the Line anthology.
